English Anonymous

Hi, I’m Rachel.
I’ve been an English major since spring 2006. I never really thought I’d end up like this, but as most of you know, all it takes is just one class. Just one literature class, and BAM! you’re hooked. You crave it more and more until it becomes a necessity. For me, it was Mr. Gwynn’s American Literature after 1865 class. In some way, he is responsible for my current situation, but the blame doesn’t entirely belong to him. Every semester, someone else offers me a class. And I think, “Hey, it’s just one class. I can keep it under control.” Only I can’t, and now it controls me. I tried rehab and different classes like chemistry, music, and even algebra. I thought they would drown out the pain, but nothing works. Nothing could ever replace a literature or writing class. So, here I am: a graduate English major with no end in sight. Oh, well. Books up!
